The Ano Session
This is my nephew, Ano. In April of 2025, Ano was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer, osteosarcoma. Amidst our grief, my brother-in-law asked me to come and do a photo session of their family, realizing that it had been too long since they had any family photos taken. I rushed to do the shoot, knowing the upcoming chemotherapy meant Ano would lose his hair. We all wanted photos of Ano at his healthiest, before the long days of chemo and the pain of his weakening body made something like a photoshoot too difficult for him.
We spent some time laughing and enjoying the spring sunshine, and managed to get all the teenage brothers to smile. I am so thankful for those moments, although tinted with the sadness of his diagnosis, their family was able to share some sweet moments captured on camera.
Ano’s spent the summer months fighting cancer and crocheting little animals in his hospital bed.. On September 15, 2025 our sweet, sweet nephew, with complete faith in His Heavenly Father, walked into the arms of Jesus.
His obituary ended this way:
If you’re reading this, Ano would want you to know that God loves you. God loves you so much that he sent his Son to die on the cross to pay for all of your sins. There is a way to an absolutely certain future in heaven and that is through belief and trust in God’s love for us through Jesus Christ.
I wanted to offer “The Ano Session” as a way to honor my brave, funny, sweet nephew, and give other families the opportunity to preserve these very important memories with their family member with cancer.
If you, or someone you know has a child diagnosed with pediatric cancer, please fill out the form and I will do my best to find a time to schedule a free family session.
